RAAF Dine-In Night: Celebrating Legacy at Club Evans Head
The Proud History of Evans Head and the RAAF
Evans Head RSL was honoured to host a special Royal Australian Air Force Dine-In Night, bringing together serving RAAF members, veterans, and the local community. The strong historical ties between the RAAF and Evans Head date back to WWII when the town was home to No. 1 Bombing and Gunnery School. This enduring legacy is cherished by many in the area, symbolised not only in the local bombing range but also in the name of the Evans Head Junior Bombers Footy Team.
A Night of Camaraderie and Tradition
Guests dressed elegantly, indulging in delicious food, sharing anecdotes, and honouring the profound connection between Defence and community. Laughter, smiles, and mutual respect filled the room, epitomising the essence of the RSL Club. Even the local Footy Team, Evans Head Junior Bombers, pays homage to this historical bond.
This event underscored the significance of community spirit, local pride, and the enduring legacy of the RAAF in Evans Head. It was a heartwarming evening that highlighted the deep-rooted ties between the Defence Force and the local residents.
Thank you to everyone who participated in making this night truly memorable. Evans Head RSL looks forward to hosting more events that celebrate our shared heritage and honour the service of our Defence personnel.
