June 4, 2026

Outstanding Achievement in Adaptive Surfing

Congratulations to Club Evans RSL member Deni Boyd on an outstanding achievement at the Japanese National Adaptive Surfing Titles. Deni, a former Evans Head local and Woodburn St Joseph’s School student, has shown incredible determination and resilience by placing third in the finals at the prestigious event held at Shizunami Surfing Stadium, south of Osaka, on 31 May.

Competing against a world-class field of Japanese and international surfers, Deni fought his way into the final four shootout and delivered an impressive final score of 12.93. His performance was highlighted by a spectacular left-handed tube ride that showcased his exceptional skill and courage on the waves.

An Inspiring Journey

Following a tragic e-scooter accident that left him a quadriplegic, Deni’s journey is a true inspiration to everyone who knows his story. His courage, perseverance and passion for surfing continue to break barriers and inspire people both at home and around the world. Deni’s determination to continue pursuing his love of surfing demonstrates the power of the human spirit and the possibilities that exist when we refuse to give up on our dreams.

Everyone at Club Evans RSL is incredibly proud of Deni’s achievement. He has represented Australia, his community, and adaptive surfing with distinction on the international stage. His success at this prestigious competition is a testament to his dedication and the support of those around him.

Please join us in congratulating Deni Boyd on this remarkable result. His story reminds us all of the strength and resilience within our community, and we couldn’t be prouder to call him a member of Club Evans RSL.
