Evans River K-12 Students Conquer the Kokoda Challenge

July 24, 2026

Celebrating an Extraordinary Achievement

Club Evans RSL was incredibly proud to welcome the students and staff from Evans River K-12 School to the club to celebrate a remarkable accomplishment – completing the 96km Kokoda Challenge.

This was no ordinary weekend event. The Kokoda Challenge represents the culmination of months of dedicated training, preparation, teamwork and sheer determination. Students pushed themselves physically and mentally to complete one of Australia’s toughest school endurance events – a feat that demands everything you have and then some.

The Values Behind the Challenge

The Kokoda Challenge is built on four powerful values: Courage, Endurance, Mateship and Sacrifice. These are the same values honoured by the diggers who walked the Kokoda Track during World War II, and they rang just as true for every student who laced up their boots and refused to quit.

At the heart of the challenge is a simple but powerful rule – no one gets left behind. Teams cross the finish line together, which makes this event as much about character as it is about fitness.

Congratulations to every student, teacher and volunteer involved. You have done your school, your families and the Evans Head community proud. Club Evans RSL was honoured to support this incredible group alongside the Evans Head Old Boys.

Well done, everyone – what an outstanding achievement! 👏🇦🇺💚
