Today, we remember the fearless Australian soldiers who valiantly fought in the Vietnam War, particularly during the Battle of Long Tan on August 18, 1966. The soldiers of D Company, 6th Battalion, Royal Australian Regiment, stood against overwhelming odds, displaying incredible courage and determination in the face of the Viet Cong forces. Their unwavering resolve and bravery serve as a lasting tribute to the strength and resilience of the Australian Armed Forces.

It is a time to honor not only the heroes of Long Tan but also all the veterans who have selflessly served our nation with distinction. Their sacrifices and dedication have been instrumental in safeguarding the freedoms we cherish today.

As we pay our respects to these brave individuals, let us never forget the sacrifices made and the valor shown by our servicemen and women. Lest we forget.
